“My right arm was badly broken in two places as a result of a barn accident. I was rushed to Warren General Hospital for emergency care. The next day Warren General’s Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Simon Amsdell reviewed my imaging and injuries and explained the plan for my surgery and recovery.
We did not know Warren General Hospital had a board-certified, fellowship-trained hand, wrist and arm specialist along with new triage-based emergency services. This meant I did not have to travel to receive exceptional orthopedic care. I highly recommend Dr. Simon Amsdell and his professional staff. My experience could not have been better.”

Diane Keeney - Russell, PA
“Cancer is the word no one wants to hear. I had been diligent with my mammograms, pap smears and self exams for breast lumps, but I was diagnosed with high grade ductile carcinoma breast cancer HER positive. It turned out to be Stage 3B. My cancer journey was challenging but I had the support of my husband, daughter, family and friends. Because of the expertise of two amazing surgeons and Warren General’s cancer specialists, I AM CANCER FREE! Radiology was critical as I began my cancer care. During the course of diagnosis, I received an image-guided biopsy and MRIs of my brain, abdomen and liver. CT scans and ultrasounds were also utilized to give my care team a comprehensive assessment. The success of my treatment plan and surgical outcome was due to the skill of Warren General’s care team and AHN’s family of breast specialists. The two female AHN breast surgeons were wonderful to me and performed my surgeries with the best possible results. Radiologist Sara Brooks, MD, at Warren General carefully studied my imaging test results. She is so bright, caring, thoughtful and willing to share her breast cancer knowledge. She became family to us—making my treatment much more tolerable. I adore her beyond measure.
My Cancer Care Center treatments were directed by Medical Oncologist Valeriy Sedov, MD and Radiation Oncologist Bernard Eden, MD. They are kind, caring, excep- tional oncologists. Their nurses and technical staff could not have been more compassionate and competent.”

Bill Grolemund - Pittsfield, PA
“WGH Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Simon Amsdell and his staff knew how important “getting back into the woods, and polka dancing with my wife” were to me. My first knee replacement was June 19th and my second was September 18th and I was hunting and dancing again in November!
We are lucky to have sensational orthopedics at WGH led by Dr. Amsdell, Physician Assistants Andrew Braun, Nathan Zigler, Edana Tudor, and excellent nurses. In addition, Steve Smith and his RehabWorks staff worked hard with me. They, too, were focused and disciplined to achieve my hunting and dancing goals!”

Daniel Montgomery - Warren, PA
“When I met Dr. Olsen he told me he would be with me for the rest of my life and that gave me great comfort. Occasional trouble urinating and discoloration didn’t seem serious until I was referred to Warren General Hospital’s Urologist, Trevor M. Olsen, MD. He clearly explained my condition and surgical solution. I had bladder cancer.
Doctor Olsen’s Urology team acted quickly. A few days after my pre-surgery tests were completed I had bladder surgery at Warren General Hospital. My surgery was successful and my follow-ups have been good. If you need a top Urologist, you won’t find a better doctor and practice than Trevor Olsen’s at Warren General.”

Benjamin Bjorquist - Warren, PA
“Caring and professional. I always feel comfortable there and confident in their care. Dr. Sedov, Dr. McNett and the nursing team are all amazing. I am so glad they are in Warren. I used to drive to Erie for treatment and I’m grateful I can go here in Warren. It means so much to have this kind of care right here in Warren.”
-
Thomas Lord - Warren, PA
“I thought I had to go to Erie, but my niece said to come here. I made friends with the staff and the patients. Dr. Sedov was compassionate and informative. They were very efficient and explained the care plan and the expectations. Dr. McNett was very kind and always found a way to bring humor to me. Dr. Eden and his team were amazing, they became like family. They all called me Uncle Tom. I am so grateful for my family and this facility for their support to get me through.”
-
Lacey Rutsky - Pittsfield, PA
“They don’t care for just the patient here; they care for the family. My 7-year-old wants to be an oncology nurse because of Barb. Dr. Eden and Dr. Sedov convinced me to get a second opinion after being in Pittsburgh. I was terrified of being a young mother. Dr. Sedov told me I was young and that meant I could fight harder. My children came to my weekly Chemo appointments to cheer me on. The staff at the Cancer Center made them feel comfortable and part of the family. I was never a number at the Cancer Center. The compassion starts at the front desk.”
-
Josh Bigelow - Warren, PA
“The staff at the Cancer Center were all invested in me getting better. I felt like I was walking into a room full of friends. They are all so amazing, I could not have done it without their support. They went above and beyond. Dr. Sedov and I found similarities in our interests and he used that to connect with me. They were always praising me for my humor and sense of purpose. I would say “Not today and not tomorrow, I can do this.”

Amy Morrison - Warren, PA
“Remember you are your own statistic.” Dr. Eden is amazing, knowledgeable, and caring. You feel like you are the only one there. Everyone is welcoming and supportive from the moment Jessica greets you. You are never a number. They helped me focus on Hope, Faith, and Fight!”

Richard Balas - Warren, PA
“The Cancer Center is a diamond in the community. No one understands what an excellent facility it is until they are faced with a cancer diagnosis. The doctors and staff are amazing. Dr. Rassiga’s willingness to reach out to other professionals to make sure I had the exact care I needed was incredible. When you are diagnosed with cancer, you are looking for someone to not only treat the disease but also guide you through the process with compassion. The Cancer Center staff meets all those needs close to home. The Center is truly a community that cares.”

John Landin - Ashville, NY
“From the first visit, you are treated like family. They were so good to me. The nurses are all wonderful. They know your name from the moment you walk in. You are never a number. Dr. Sedov was wonderful. I liked his humor in trying to create a relationship with me. He was very knowledgeable about my cancer and how to treat it. I never felt I needed to go anywhere else. I’m grateful this facility is so close to home.”
-
Julia McTavish - Warren, PA
“Warren General’s Cancer Care Center leaves a lasting impression. From the moment I walked in I felt safe, protected, and comfortable. I felt I could ask anyone for help and they would provide it. Dr. Rassiga is amazing. She sat with me and my family and answered all of our questions in a nonmedical way to help ease our fear. There was never any urgency or rush to the next patient. Terry and Dr. Rassiga took all the time I needed and spent time with my husband as well. I cannot imagine having to travel feeling sick. We are fortunate to have this hospital and Cancer Care Center right here in our community.”

Lincoln Sokolski - Warren, PA
“Warren is blessed to have a world-class cancer center. I evaluated high-profile cancer centers in New York City, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh and ultimately chose to go to our facility in Warren after learning about our highly experienced physicians and team. Dr. Sedov and Dr. Eden have wonderful working relationships with many other professionals across the country. When speaking with the top colorectal surgeon in Pittsburgh he fully supported me choosing Dr. Sedov for my oncologist versus someone in Pittsburgh. The WGH lab department is always flexible, convenient, and fast. They all collaborate ensuring that in many situations I can get all of my tests and treatments done on the same day. The entire experience from Jess and Chris at the front desk to the superior staff made me feel most comfortable on EVERY visit. I highly recommend anyone deciding on where to get their cancer treatments to choose WGH.”

John Lacki - Warren, PA
“After heart surgery, my doctors chose Warren General’s RehabWorks for cardiac rehabilitation. What a great choice! My cardiac rehab nurse was so competent and concerned about me. I was on a ninety-day program that included exercises to restore my upper and lower body strength. I felt good about the fact that my heart was monitored during the sessions. I highly recommend RehabWorks. My caregivers were as kind and compassionate as they were excellent!”

Kathryn Hodge - Youngsville, PA
“I have had more than 20 surgeries, some in Warren and some at big regional hospitals. Now, I tell friends I wish all my surgeries had beenat Warren General Hospital. A few years ago, I thought I needed out-of-town specialists to diagnose my severe stomach pain. Wrong! It was not correctly diagnosed until I saw Warren General Family Medicine specialist John Sutton, MD. After his examination, I was referred to Warren General Hospital surgeon Philip Vuocolo, MD. Dr. Vuocolo began with a colonoscopy. His assessment during the procedure was that I needed immediate surgery. I was wheeled into an operating room. Dr. Vuocolo found tha adhesions restricting my colon and liver were causing the pain. Thankfully, my surgery, a bowel resection, was successful. This was the first time Dr. Vuocolo saved my life. In January 2022, I had more stomach pain. This time, Dr. Sutton ordered an abdominal CT scan at Warren General. Again, I was referred to Dr. Vuocolo and with assistance from surgeons Valerie Dunn, MD and Yoko Young Sang, MD, laparoscopic surgery was used to repair a stomach tear and hernia. I am very thankful for Warren General board-certified physicians and surgeons. They have excellent experience and respond rapidly. There is no substitute for the compassionate care you receive at Warren General from doctors, nurses and technicians, plus, they are so close to home for me and my family.”

Kevin Hall - Warren, PA
“I was so weak, Warren General referred me to Saint Vincent cardiologists for a triple bypass. At RehabWorks, my very kind and skilled cardiac rehab nurse coached me through her ninety- day program. The arm bike for upper body, and recumbent bike and stepper for lower body strengthened me and I was unafraid because of heart monitoring. RehabWork’s professional staff and personal attention was outstanding. Now, I am able to walk three miles a day. Go to RehabWorks for your cardiac rehabilitation care!”

“One Sunday in October I was nauseous and my chest felt tight. We recognized “heart attack” symptoms. By acting fast, I arrived at the WGH ER before I had more extensive heart damage. As soon as the ER doors closed behind us, I was evaluated by certified emergency professionals. No time was wasted in the lobby. I trust WGH, I retired from the hospital in 2014. From my Microbiology Lab position, I had always worked with excellent WGH physicians and pathologists. The WGH ER is very different now. With the new triage protocol, I saw a nurse within minutes who administered baby aspirin, drew blood for Lab and started an IV. In a new exam room, a physician assistant performed an extensive EKG. The attending ER physician determined I needed clot-busting Heparin, TPA and the care of heart specialists at St. Vincent Heart and Vascular Center in Erie. I was flown by helicopter to the St. Vincent helipad. The rapid, thorough emergency care and concern I received in the WGH ER and after landing at St. Vincent probably saved my life. My ER care provided so much confidence, I actually enjoyed the flight to Erie. Do not hesitate. Go to the ER at Warren General. They gave me excellent care, close to home.”

Greg Camp - Warren, PA
“After spinal surgeries and several months in hospitals, Greg Camp fights on. “I had deep pressure wounds that did not heal until we changed to WGH Home Care and Dr. Mason Tootell. What a difference,” said Greg Camp. “Very skilled and loving WGH RN’s Emily Colvin and Ashley Yoder guided us through wound and spinal cord recovery,” said Greg’s wife Diana. “Then, the amazing and tireless work of WGH therapists Jamie Mangini and Jolene Ferrie helped strengthen Greg and taught him how to transition into his wheelchair allowing him to recover at home. We are so thankful Greg received world-class and compassionate care. And best of all, WGH’s talented and selfless caregivers served us in our home,” said Diana.

“Warren General Hospital surgeon, Yoko Young Sang, MD, recommended gallbladder surgery. My response was, ‘I will be laid up too long.’ She told me not this time, due to the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery platform. My results were amazing. I had three small incisions, very little pain, virtually no scarring and better yet, I was back doing electrical work in just a few days. I highly recommend Warren General for robotic-assisted surgery.”

Donna McGurk - Warren, PA
“In 2015, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and last year I chose an excellent gynecologist. As a former nurse at WGH, I observed passionate patient care. That is why I chose WGH and gynecologist Dr. Burns. Their very warm and insightful answers to my questions, led me to become a patient. My exams, internal and breast, were performed with a high degree of caring for my privacy, feelings and comfort. Dr. Burns and his staff listened intently to my current concerns, history of ovarian cancer and difficulties as a teen. I highly recommend Warren General to my friends for gynecologic care.”
-
Jerry Stuart - Warren, PA
“Prostate cancer can be deadly. That is why Dr. Olsen and I decided to remove my prostate. He has outstanding expertise having used the da Vinci robotic platform in several hospitals. My experience was excellent. The pain was minimal from the very small incision sites. I had virtually no bleeding and just a few tiny scars. I was up and walking the same day! If you suspect prostate cancer and require surgery, go to Warren General, Dr. Olsen and the da Vinci robotic surgery platform. They were great choices for me.”

Alex Connor - Jamestown, NY
"I would recommend WGH to anyone seeking surgical care, but especially when it comes to breast biopsy and cancer screening. I felt so well cared for by all of the staff on my team before and after the procedure, and it was clear that Dr. Dunn was truly invested in my results and well-being beyond the surgery. We were all relieved, of course, when the biopsy came back benign, but Dr. Dunn didn’t stop there. She helped me setup proper wound care and any time I had questions or concerns, I could count on her to not only give me answers, but also explain the things I didn’t understand with compassion."
