Laboratory Functions
Warren General Hospital’s laboratory is divided into two sections.
The first section is phlebotomy where the staff devotes their time to drawing blood from patients who have been referred to the hospital by their physician. Patients can have their blood drawn during the hours listed below. After blood has been drawn, the sample is sent to the hospital’s full-service lab, which is open 24 hours a day. Once there, medical technologists and technicians are able to perform a wide range of tests on the blood, including:
Hematology
Coagulation Studies
Microbiology
Chemistry
Anatomic Pathology
The second section is laboratory services which houses WGH’s full-service blood bank and performs studies on the growth of cell cultures.
Laboratory Staff
The laboratory services department is comprised of:
A board certified pathology physician
Medical technologists and technicians
Phlebotomists, a nurse or other health worker trained in drawing blood for testing or donation
Hours for Blood Draws
Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Saturdays from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Major Holidays Excluded
